Kathmandu Valley Trek is a short and easy graded trek. It is suitable for every type of tourist. Also, it is the best trek for those tourists having short time and a low budget. This trek provides an opportunity to observe the natural beauty as well as flora and fauna around the Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu valley trekking starts from Sundarijal and ends from Dhulikhel to Kathmandu by vehicle. One can observe the scene of beautiful mid-hills and mountains as well. Trekkers can get a chance to view the beautiful mountains such as Mt.Langtang, Mt.Ganesh Himal, and Mt.Manaslu ranges. This route goes through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, Chisopani, and Nagarkot Eco-trail. Sunrise from Chisopani, Nagarkot, and Dhulikhel is also the best part of this trek as trekkers can observe the stunning mountain views.

As it is named Kathmandu Valley trek, it provides a beautiful snapshot view of the valley i.e. Capital city of Nepal. This trek provides you an opportunity to observe beautiful scenes of waterfalls, forest and local Tamang villages. Also one can observe the field terraces where local people grow corn, millet, and paddy. One can also get to observe typical styles of houses that can make your trekking more enjoyable and mesmerizing. This trek is specially designed to explore the natural resources and religious sites inside and around the Kathmandu Valley. At the end of the trek you get to understand how Nepal is filled with natural, cultural and religious beauties.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu to  Sundarijal drives 45 min and walk Chisopani (2165m) 4 to 5 hrs.

Day 02: Chisopani to Nagarkot (1932m) 6 to 7 hrs.

Day 03. Nagarkot to Changunarayan 4hrs walk and drive 45 minutes to Bhaktapur. Over night in Bhaktapur.

Day 04: Bhaktapur to Dhulikhel drive by bus and walk to Namobudda and drive to Panauti Kahtmandu.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01. Kathmandu to  Chisopani.

Kathmandu to  Sundarijal by car or bus depend on group size  drive about 45 minutes and start trek to Chisopani.  from Sundarijal ascend to  Chisopani about 4,5 hrs walk.( mostly walk in the forest)

Day 02. Chisopani to Nagarkot.

Chisopani to Nagarkot is 8, 9 hrs walk. It is mostly easy walk through forest and village but end of the day 45 minutes need to ascent. Nagarkot is excellent view point of Kathmandu valley trek. when you  arrive here need to wake up early morning for beautiful pictures of Annapurna range to Everest range views.

Day 03. Nagarkot to  Dhulikhel.

Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is easy and short day walk. there are opetions walk up to Dhulikhel or  walk to  Nala and take local but to Dhulikhel.

Day 04. Dhulikhel to Namobuddha Kathmandu.

Dhulikhel to Namobuddha 2,3 hrs walk in Local village walking trail and road also but it is really beautiful  walking to Namobuddha and visit Monastry etc. After visit Namobuddha monastry walk down 3o minutes and take local transport to Kathmandu.

  • Two nights standard accommodation in 2/3/4/5 star category hotel in Kathmandu located tourist center, or up to you.
  • Meals on full board (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the trekking
