Ghorepani Poonhill Trek

5-10 days

Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is one of the most demanding and popular trekking destinations in the Annapurna region. Every year thousands of trekkers travel to this area for the sightseeing of Himalayan ranges. Poonhill is incredibly famous for its majestic sunrise and sunset view as well as the view of beautiful mountains such as Mt.Machhapuchre, Mt.Dhaulagiri, Mt.Manaslu, and Mt. Annapurna, etc. It is one of the easiest routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary.

One can get an opportunity to explore the unique lifestyle, culture, food, and history of people living in this region for hundreds of years. One of the major attractions of this journey is the closer and crystal-clear view of Mt. Annapurna which one can easily see from the summit of this hill. The warm welcome of the local people is equally as enjoyable. This trek is well marked as there are lots of hotels, restaurants, and guest houses. As tourists on this route are increasing day by day, as a result, more hotels are on way to establishment. It is also a great trekking spot to do as an acclimatization trek before attempting more challenging trek/routes.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek starts with the sightseeing of some of the famous heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. Like other trekking routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary area, there are different starting and finishing points. The most popular way for this trek is to start from Nayapul and finish in Ghandruk. Similarly, one can also perform this trek starting from Ghandruk and finishing in Nayapul. There are jeeps and buses to Pokhara from both of the villages.

Also, there are possibilities to expand the trekking journey with beautiful routes to the Annapurna Base Camp along with the Machhapuchre base camp.
