A moderately strenuous one, the Everest Three Pass Trek is situated in the Everest Region of Nepal. The three high passes in the area are the Renjola pass (5365), Chola pass (5420m) and Kongmala Pass (5535m). This trekking trail gives a chance to pass through all these passes with mind boggling views of the snow capped peaks like the Cho-Oyu (8201m), Makalu (8463m), Ama Dablam (6812m). Proper acclimatization however is absolutely mandatory as this trail passes through very high altitudes. The added attractions of this trek are the chance to mix up with the Sherpa people residing in the Khumbu region and the exquisite viewpoints in the way. This is a must do for adventure and thrill seekers.
This trek commences with a beautiful flight to Lukla followed by a trek to the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar provides excellent lodging facilities and is full of warm welcoming people. This is followed by another trek to Lungdhen via the Thame Village. The next step is the Renjola Pass situated at a height of 5365 m which offers spectacular 360 degree view of mountains all around. A descend down to the Gokyo Lake is equally rewarding. A sunrise view from the viewpoint of Gokyo Ri is highly recommended as it offers enchanting views of the Mt. Everest and other peaks beyond it along with glaciers and the Gokyo Lake. The next step is an ascend up to the challenging Chola pass (5420m) and up to the Everest Base Camp. Further trek is done to the Kalapathar, mountain of black rock.
The next trek is carried out to the third pass, the Kongmala Pass (5535m) which is another trek totally worth the time. From Kongmala Pass, trekkers descend into the beautiful Chhukung Valley from which a route is followed to the Namche Bazaar and back to Lukla. This brings an end to the trek with beautiful scenic experiences and warm welcoming inhabitants.
