Yala Peak Climbing (5500 M.) – 15 Days

15 Days

Trip Overview

Located in the Langtang Region of Nepal, the Yala Peak situated at a height of 5732 m offers hypnotic views of the snow capped peaks like the Shishsapangma, Gangchempo, Langtang Lirung. Lenpo Gang, Dorje Lakpa, Naya Khanga and many other Tibetan peaks. Considered to be a comparatively easy trek, it can be carried out in the spring or the autumn season by anybody with an interest for trekking and a moderate physique. The trekking trial covers various monasteries, gompas, slate houses, prayer flags and the warm hospitality of the ethnic generations residing in perfect harmony across the region. The Langtang region is the most remote region untouched by any modernization and urbanization and trekking across it is considered to be both a scenic as well as a pilgrimage trek due to the religious variety the region possesses. Villages along the trek are a haven, especially for Buddhists who chose to observe the mixture of Tibetan and Nepali culture of the Langtang region.

This trek, like most others in the Langtang region starts from the beautiful riverside village of Syabrubesi and moves upwards towards Thulo Syabru. After trekking up to the Lama Hotel trekkers reach the Kyangin Gompa at a height of 3800 m. This is the perfect location for proper acclimatization as it is located beneath the mighty Langtang Lirung. Further trek can be planned to the viewpoint of Tsergo Ri at an height of 4985 m. From Kyangin Gompa, trekkers trek to the Yala Base Camp at an altitude of 4800 m. Climbing the Yala Peak is comparatively easy and requires no prior experience. However the last 700 meters make the extensive use of ice axes, crampons and ropes due to the presence of ice. Upon reaching the summit, the aforementioned mountain ranges are seen in full view and the climb across the peak is all made worth it.

The return itinerary can retrace the same path or can be extended across the Gosaikunda Lake in the Helambu region as well. This trek is highly recommended for trekkers with a flair for adventure and trek with ease.
