Tsum Valley Trek – 19 Days

Trip Overview

Tsum Valley trek is an off beaten, newly opened trekking location in the Manaslu Region of Nepal. It was opened in 2008 and is a sacred pilgrimage location. Tsum Valley is located in northern Gorkha, Nepal and offers exquisite beauty against the views of Ganesh, Sringi and Boudha Himal ranges. Another of its attraction is the rich culturural variety and warm hospitality of the ethnic Tibetan people residing in this area with perfect harmony with other ethnic populations.

Adorned with artistic chortens, mani walls, stone slabs with artistic drawings this trek starts from Arughat Bazaar followed by a drive to Shoti Khola. This is followed by trek into the Macha Khola to jagat before reaching Lokpa. Appreciating the unique wildlife in the region, trekkers then trek into Chumling, Chhokangaparo and finally to Chulle-Nile before reaching the Mu Gompa. Then, Reachen Gompa can also be viewed before moving off to the Gumba Lungdang. Upon returning back to Lokpa, another trek is done into Deng, then to Namrung and into Lho. The trail then follows into the Dharmasala through Sama Gaun where the Birendra Lake can be visited. The rest of the itinerary follows then into Bimthang, Goa, Dharapani and a final drive to Besisahar before ending the trek. The itinerary however can be lengthened of shortened as per the requirements.

The region is untouched by modernization and urbanization as the trail was opened very recently to tourists. This is the reason why the Tsum Valley has a raw, natural beauty to it. Drained by the Shear Khola, this region was previously under the Tsum Kingdom consisting of thirteen provinces whose remains can still be seen today. Wildlife like the Himalayan Thar and Blue sheep are also other major attractions of this area which is an ancient hotspot for meditation and salvation. The trek through this unique valley with Buddhist influence is surely worth every penny spent and every ounce of energy used.
