12 Days

Trip Overview

The Langtang region is full of inhabitants who are mostly Tamang hence making this region perfect to witness both the lifestyle of the Tamangs and the exquisite beauty the Langtang region possesses. It is a hotspot and a thriving location for the Tamang people hence the Tamang Heritage Trek has been created newly for trekkers wishing to trek across this untouched, raw region along with witnessing the nature of the welcoming and warm Tamang people in Nepal who have unique cultures, festivals and beliefs. The Tamangs of the Langtang region are heavily influenced by the Tibetan culture. Major festivals celebrated in the village are Dawa Dangbo Chhiju (in February), Chuwa Chhiju (November), Yarsang (early June), Dukpa Chhiju (August) and Lhosar (February). The Tamang Heritage trek provides an amalgamation of cultural and geographical beauty and variety.

Like most other treks across the Langtang region, this trek too starts with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi. A trek is done to the Tamang viallge of Gatlang through Goljang Valley which is accompanied by views of the pristine Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and Langtang Himal along with views of perfectly terraced fields. The next destination is Tatopani via Thangbuchet and Chilime. Tatopani is home to the soothing hot springs which are considered to have healing qualities and can be very well used to ease away the aching legs of the trekkers.

Further trek through colorful prayer flags, slate made richly carved houses, meditation centers and ancient monasteries brings the village of Nagthali and then Thuman. Also seen are the snow capped peaks like the Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Ranges.

A descend through flatlands into Timure is followed by a short trek to Rasuwa Gadi. Rasuwa Gadi is an ancient Nepal- Tibet business transaction area which is now closed. A trek through rhododendron and oak forests into the base of Langtang Himal brings the village Briddim. The same path can be retraced back to end the trek.
